The Pokémon series has proven to be a super hit already on the handheld consoles Nintendo. It is now dominating smartphones. Pokémon Go, which was released for android and iOS on 6th July, is bigger than most apps and it is now trying to surpass the daily active user count of most the apps.

The game is not like any other thing that the fans of Pokémon have recorded in the past. The app makes use of the augmented reality concept to make it appear like Pokémon which are already in your surroundings and this means that you may find a Pikachu who is standing on the sidewalk or a Pidgey who peeks out from the back of a tree.

Though the faces may appear familiar to all the fans, the gameplay is quite dissimilar from the rest of the games which are themed as Pokémon. To know more about this game, read this ahead as this post is an overview of the amazing game called Pokémon Go. You must try this game at least once.

The Gameplay

The main aim of Pokémon Go is to catch more and more Pokémon and then take them into a battle at the gyms. The primary reason why this game is different than other Pokémon titles is the way of execution of this concept. In the Pokémon Go game, you can try moving your character by taking a walk around the physical world.

The game makes use of the GPS of your phone to coordinate and move the different avatars which are there in the game. This means that you have to keep exploring various areas in the real world to look for the wild Pokémon and various goodies.

For catching a wild Pokémon that shows up anywhere in your way, you just need to click on it. This will let the creature get a good view of your field, making use of the camera on your phone to make it appear like Pokémon is hovering or standing near you. From this point, you can also fling any Pokéball there so that it is caught by making a swipe on it from the bottom of the screen.

Another major change that has been made to the game is combat. When you catch Pokémon, you don’t need to fight with them with your Pokémon team. Instead, the battle is amidst you as well as the creature directly. You can swipe across for throwing a Poké Ball, the device can be used to capture the Pokémon and in their direction, which then can be used to catch them.

There is no conventional Pokémon battles in-game. When you’re fighting with other trainers and gym leaders, you don’t have to set up your team comprising of six and four moves each and choose amongst those moves to overpower your opponent, as you can do in the games which are handheld. Instead, the battles are greatly determined by the combat power of Pokémon, a state that is linked to every Pokémon and you can click on the screen to create your Pokémon attacks the enemy while you swipe for dodging enemy attacks. Lots of strategies are not present in the game.

For now, the game can’t be played in multiplayer mode but the game developers are working on starting a multiplayer mode in the game. You can only play the game in single-player mode for now but you will be able to play the multiplayer mode very soon.

How can you level up in the game?

To increase the power of your Pokémon or evolve them, you must give them candy or stardust. These items can be collected when you catch a Pokémon. Every kind of Pokémon needs a particular candy amount to evolve. For example, a Squirtle will require 25 candy pieces to show up, whereas a Pidgey will need 12.

Every Pokémon will have a particular candy amount when it is caught but it will not be enough for a Pokémon to evolve or increase its power. Candy is particular only to some species, so you can power up a Squirtle with the help of Candy that you get when you capture a Squirtle. The stardust item is not particular to any particular Pokémon.

You can either use stardust or candy to increase the CP of a Pokémon or even fight points. The more battle points are there with your Pokémon, it will give better your performance in combat.

What are the different Pokémon you can catch in the game?

There are over 200 Pokémon you can catch in Pokémon Go. The game comprises the whole first set of Pokémon which showed its first debut in the middle of the 90s with almost 100 creatures from the edition of the 2nd generation. There are different types of Pokémon you can catch in this game. Some of them are Charmeleon, Squirtle, Butterfree, Weedle, Rattata, and many others too.

Pricing

The app can be downloaded for free but you will find an option pf using the in-game currency known as Poke Coins and they can also be used for buying Poke balls which are used in capturing Pokémon. The users don’t have to buy currency for playing the game. Like other apps of this kind, buying them can make the game easy for you. Parents can also restrict the app purchase on their own devices and their children’s devices top. This can be mostly done by clicking on the settings of your tablet or phone.

Conclusion

That’s all that was included in this overview of Pokémon Go. It is a super exciting game you can play. Though it will not be possible for you to catch all Pokémon that come along your way, the highest number of Pokémon you catch, the better you can perform in the game. It is available for all Android and iOS devices so you can download it very easily on your device.
