Growing up, I always loved playing games with my family. Whether it was a classic board game or an intense video game, we always had a blast competing against each other. However, one particular game will always stand out in my mind – the “Mom Got Stuck in the Washing Machine Game”.
The Setup
The game was simple. We would set up a makeshift “washing machine” using a large cardboard box and a white sheet. The box would be cut out in the shape of a washing machine, with a door for the player to enter. The sheet would be draped over the top of the box to hide it from view.
One person would volunteer to be the “mom” and would step inside the box, with the sheet covering them. The rest of us, the “children”, would wait eagerly outside the “washing machine” with our “laundry” (socks, shirts, etc.) ready to be thrown in.

Once the “mom” was inside, the game would begin. The “children” would take turns throwing in their laundry items while chanting “Mom got stuck in the washing machine!” The “mom” would then have to grab the items and throw them back out through a small hole in the back of the box.
If the “mom” managed to get all the items out before the “children” chanted the phrase three times, they would win. But if they didn’t, the “children” would be declared the winners and get a sweet treat as a prize.
The Fun and Laughter
This game may seem simple, but it provided hours of laughter and entertainment for my family. We would come up with silly variations, like pretending to add too much detergent or making funny noises as we threw in our “laundry”. Sometimes, I would even volunteer to be the “mom” just to see my family’s reactions when I popped out of the “washing machine” covered in socks and shirts.
