What is Rake Game?

How to Play Rake Game

Setting Up
To start the game, shuffle the deck of cards and deal 4 cards to each player. The remaining cards are placed face down in the center to form the draw pile. The top card of the draw pile is flipped over to start the discard pile. This card is known as the Rake card and its value determines the target for the current round.
Gameplay
The player to the left of the dealer starts the game by laying down a card from their hand that matches the value of the Rake card. For example, if the Rake card is a 5, the player must lay down a 5 from their hand. If they do not have a matching card, they must pick up a card from the draw pile and their turn ends.
If a player successfully lays down a matching card, they can choose to either capture it themselves or let it remain on the table for their opponents to capture. If they choose to capture it, they must do so by placing the matching card on top of the Rake card and announcing “Rake!” They can also capture any other cards on the table that match the value of the played card. For example, if they play a 5, they can also capture any other 5s on the table. Captured cards are placed in a separate pile and will be counted at the end of the game.
If a player is unable to capture the card they played, they must leave it on the table for their opponents to capture. The turn then moves to the next player.
Scoring and Winning
The game continues in this manner until all the cards from the draw pile have been used. Once the draw pile is empty, players can only play the cards from their hand. When a player runs out of cards, they can no longer play and must wait until the end of the round.
At the end of the round, points are counted based on the values of the captured cards. The players of the cards with the same value as the Rake card get 2 points for each card, while the player of the Rake card gets 3 points. If a player captures all four cards of the same value, they get an additional 4 points. The player with the most points at the end of the round becomes the dealer for the next round. The game ends when a predetermined score limit is reached and the player with the highest score wins.
