The Objective

The objective of Take No Prisoners is simple: conquer your opponents and be the last one standing. Each player takes on the role of a powerful warlord, leading their army to battle against other warlords. The winner is determined by the total number of territories they control at the end of the game.

The Setup

At the beginning of the game, players take turns claiming territories on the game board. There are a total of 25 territories, each with its own unique characteristics and resources. Players must strategize carefully when claiming territories, as some provide valuable resources while others serve as strategic points for defense.

Once all territories have been claimed, players must also decide which of their territories they want to fortify. Fortifying refers to reinforcing a territory with additional troops, making it more difficult for opponents to conquer. The number of troops that can be placed on a territory is determined by rolling a dice. A player can fortify as many territories as they like, but be careful, as each fortified territory will require you to remove troops from another.

The Gameplay

After the setup is complete, the real battle begins. Players take turns attacking each other’s territories using dice rolls to determine the outcome. The higher number rolled wins the attack, and the losing player must remove troops from the conquered territory. But be warned, if a player loses all of their troops on a territory, the conqueror takes control of that territory. The game continues until there is only one warlord left standing.

The Strategy

While luck does play a role in Take No Prisoners, it is a game that heavily relies on strategy. Players must carefully consider their moves and anticipate their opponent’s next move. Choosing which territories to fortify, when to attack, and when to defend requires critical thinking and a bit of risk-taking. The more strategic and calculated a player’s moves are, the higher their chances of coming out as the ultimate warlord.

Final Thoughts

Take No Prisoners is not a game for the faint of heart. It is a game that requires boldness and tactical thinking. From the intense gameplay to the beautifully designed game board, Take No Prisoners is an immersive and challenging experience. Whether you’re a seasoned board game player or a newbie looking for a thrilling game night, Take No Prisoners is a must-try. Gather your troops, sharpen your strategies, and prepare for an epic battle.

“In Take No Prisoners, every move counts and every decision has consequences. It’s a game that truly separates the master strategists from the rest.” – Thomas Silver, game designer
