YGGDRASILL Game, also known as simply YGGDRASILL, is a Swedish role-playing game developed by authors Anders Blixt and Michael Petersén. Inspired by Norse mythology and the legendary World Tree Yggdrasil, this tabletop RPG takes players on an epic adventure through the nine mythical worlds of Norse cosmology.

The Setting

The game is set in the late Viking Age, during a time when the world is in turmoil and the old gods are preparing for the final battle of Ragnarök. The player characters take on the roles of legendary heroes, chosen by the gods to join forces and battle against the forces of chaos and destruction. As they journey through the nine worlds, they will encounter powerful enemies, unravel ancient mysteries, and ultimately determine the fate of the world.

The Core Mechanics

In YGGDRASILL Game, players are encouraged to think creatively and collaboratively, with a focus on storytelling and character development. The game uses a simple d6-based system that is easy to learn, yet deep enough to provide endless possibilities for gameplay.

  • Attributes: Characters have six attributes that define their capabilities: Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Charisma, Endurance, and Luck.
  • Skills: In addition to their attributes, characters also possess a variety of skills that reflect their training and experience. These skills range from combat abilities to social and magical skills.
  • Action Dice: Every player rolls a number of d6s depending on their attributes and skills, and the result of these rolls determines the success or failure of their actions.

The Nine Worlds

The nine worlds of Norse mythology serve as the main settings for YGGDRASILL Game. Each of these worlds is unique, with its own culture, creatures, and challenges. The nine worlds are:

  1. Asgard: The city of the gods, home to Thor, Odin, and other Norse deities.
  2. Midgard: The world of humans, filled with villages, towns, and cities.
  3. Vanaheim: The land of the Vanir, a race of powerful nature-loving beings.
  4. Jötunheim: The realm of the giants, a wild and dangerous place inhabited by various giant creatures.
  5. Alfheim: The domain of the light elves, a peaceful and harmonious world.
  6. Svartalfheim: The underworld of the dark elves, a mysterious and treacherous place.
  7. Nidavellir: The realm of the dwarves, known for their craftsmanship and love of gold.
  8. Muspelheim: The fiery world of fire giants and fire demons, constantly at war with Niflheim.
  9. Niflheim: The frozen world of ice giants and creatures, in eternal conflict with Muspelheim.

How to Download
